Horse Handling, Grooming, and Health

Knowledge of horses' health is an essential tenet of becoming an equestrian.

We give students the tools to succeed by demonstrating the tasks to be completed, providing support as students learn, and requiring some memorization through training manuals provided.

We teach the McMaster's method of fecal exams. Although this is becoming more popular in recent years, I have taught my interns and students this for many years. If you plan to open your own stable someday, this is an important aspect of care. It not only affects your horses' health, well being and ability to work, but can affect your costs as well (if you need a veterinarian for this service). All students take a day to learn this aspect of care!!
